The Count Down is on. Are You Ready?

Just a few photos from a few vignettes in my home.

These vintage angels were my grandmothers. They are my most cherished holiday decorations I own.

Winter Wonderland

I hope everyone is having an enjoyable holiday season thus far. Mine has been full with shopping, parties, wrapping and relatives in town. Here are a few photos from some of my decorating.

I am really loving all things white, silver and blingy and mercury glass.....the more the merrier is what I say. I still have lots to do but most of the decorating is complete. I still have my front porch to finish. I better get a move on. Just so busy it seems. I hope this weekend I have time to curl up and watch my favorite classic holiday movie of all time - "The Bishops Wife" with Carey Grant.

Have a blessed week....

White Pumpkin Love

I am really loving white pumpkins this fall. I definitely can see them on my dining room table this Thanksgiving with my Brown Transferware Johnson Bros. Turkey Plates.

White Roses & Ironstone

Who doesn't just love the look of white roses and white pottery?
they are so fresh and calming.

Thanksgiving is just around the corner. Does everyone have thier menus planned and turkeys thawed?

The Chair Stands Alone....

For the past 13 years the office of my "day job" sat above an olde time county jail. It served as a storage area for county surplus, as well as a setting for several movies and TV shows after its closure. Now my office has been moved to a state-of-the-art building away from the scenic town it has been in (sniff, frown) The county held a large surplus sale to get rid of old items that are no longer used. Here is the little chair I bought for $1.00. Less then the cost of a Diet Pepsi! I do plan on cleaning up the layers of dust and painting it eventually

.

If only this chair could talk, the stories it would tell........

Have a stupendous week.

Finally, another post.....

I have been such a bad bad blogger. It is still a new habit that I need to develop. I need to post more often. I went out of town to the Grand Canyon with my mom and sisters and have been busy with moving to a new office for my "day job". I have however, been thinking about you all in blog land. I ran into a friend today while out starting the 1st of my holiday shopping and she shared with me she had a blog, so I told her I had one too. Now the pressure.. I better get this updated before she sees my outdated blog and does not want to become a "follower".

I know everyone has shifted into full time Christmas decor mode but I am still loving Autumn and the beauty it brings. I am on hold with my decorating because I have hardwood floors being installed in my great room this Monday and then carpets shampooed next Friday before my company arrives from Denver for Thanksgiving. So here are a few posts from my recent world until I get some holiday decor up and photographed. I am dying to put out my mercury glass and greenery and try some new ideas.

Recent treasures from the thrift store...

I wanted to share a few of my latest finds in this post. All purchased at the same local thrift store. I now need to figure out where to hang them? Right now they are scattered among stacks of homework, junk mail, preschool artwork and decorating magazines.

Set of 4 plates with house scenes on them. The backs are written in German so I am not sure where the pictures are from. Love the color palette. Started out at $8.00 each. Went back and they were marked to $5.00 a piece. Got all 4 for $5.oo...oh the luck

Set of 3 white Cannisters. I have been looking for white cannisters for ages. They were all so expensive. These were $4.50 for the set of 3. They have silver handles which I am not sure I love so I may be painting over that. We shall see.

Darling snack sets with fruit motifs if pretty fall colors. $1.00 each - set of 4. I am looking for a plate rack to display them on. I love that they have a white background.

Wooden bracket for $1.00 - To paint or not to paint?

Brown transferware plate with windmill.......L.O.V.E - $1.oo

Cameo picture - $2.00

Brown Transferware toothbrush holder-Stratfordshire $5.oo
The brown transferware platter in the background is from the Linda Dano home collection on QVC. She also has plates to match as well.

Off to collect more trinkets.

Before & After...

Here are just a few projects I have been working on lately.

Before

After

I may sell this one. I can't make up my mind.

I decided I was ready for a change from this look. I love the frame. Rather than give the whole thing away I re-purposed it

I may still paint the frame white...

Everything is a work in progress -

it's all about the evolution of ourselves and our spaces we live in.

Have a stupendous week!

Seeing the Light....

My hubby and I found this chandelier while out on a Saturday morning drive in the country We picked this pretty chandelier up on clearance at home depot on a Thursday evening after we ate at D.Q. It was the floor model so I got it for 1/2 off. We finally hung it up this weekend. 4 weeks later...Ok ok, I supervised. It looks really pretty. I love the way the sunlight shines through the antique crystals faux plastic crystals. It still gives me the overall look & vibe I want however, and that is the important thing.

I also picked up this cute table at the thrift store last week. I plan to paint it soon. I seriously have no more room for a single thing. But that doesn't seem to stop me (or most of my fellow bloggers out there) They are just to darn cute to pass up. Should I paint it, or leave it?

Had a great Sunday Brunch with 2 of my good friends Michelle and Layna. We talked furniture, decorating and food the whole time. Now those, are my favorite topics. What better way to spend a Sunday morning......don't you agree.

Fall is in the air

I am planning on putting out the fall and Halloween decor out tomorrow My kids love this haunted house. We call it the "witchy" house. They have been playing with it all week. Getting them over the intrigue of a new toy so I can use it on Saturday.

These photos are from last year - I will show you this years on a later post

I am getting ready to repaint my loved hutch a creamy white.
I have this piece for years. I primed the 2 drawers already. Not sure how that is going to look with the Halloween...what to do, what to do?- maybe I can cover the white drawers with scrapbook paper? for now.
Would you paint the hutch creme or black? I was hoping to have it done by now.
You know how that goes.

Another Table Redo

I picked up this table the other day for a song

It had that shiny brown wood look to it, maybe a veneer? Very 1991.
It was in great condition, not a thing wrong with it, very sturdy
and the caning on the bottom was in perfect condition

Now this little gem looks like this

I sanded and primed it with KILZ and painted it an antique white

YAY - another cute table to perch all of my "finds" on

Have a great weekend

PS - I will try to post more regularly. I have been too busy checking out other blogs and forgetting about my own. It is still all so knew, I'm not in the habit yet.

PSS - I almost forgot! I got the new camera I was hoping for for my birthday. Once I figure out how to use it my pics will look way better - I promise
