A new day, a new beginning.....

Every blog, magazine and person I have talked to is talking about how nice it is to de-clutter, organize and clean after the holidays have passed. I am no exception. It almost feels like putting on a pair of cozy sweat pants. Or maybe a pair of favorite jeans, and having them be loose with room to breathe. (Of course I wouldn't know to much about the latter)

Still trying to learn the new camera. Maybe I should take a class?

I wanted to go with a more neutral scheme for the cold winter around here. And mix in mercury glass, tarnished silver etc. It seems cozy. I painted my old pine hutch a lighter creme. I showed it in a previous post at Christmas. It just makes all my thrift store finds really "pop"

My hubby bought these prints for me for Christmas at one of my new favorite local stores. http://www.madeleinelamour.blogspot.com/ They are my favorite gift. Well along with a tureen a good friend gave me (photo below)

All of these pieces came from the thrift store except for the bird and his "crown"

Here is a shot of my mantle. It is still a work in progress.

Why are all my photos slanted? Vertigo? Maybe my house is built on a slant?

Here is a pic of my kitchen cupboards. I really really want to paint my cherry cupboards creme. I just don't have the time and energy at the moment. I keep reading blogs and they keep saying how time consuming it is. Maybe I will just start with the island. Maybe my sisters can come help me?

Here is the beautiful tureen my sweet friend Michelle gave me. "thanks michelle". I even left some of the vintage linens she also gave to me. Love friends that just "get you".

A New Day, A New Beginning, A New Year........

I just wish detoxing my body, recreating myself and cleansing and letting "weight go" was as easy as cleaning house and "lifting" the clutter from my home.
If it were I would be a size 4. Or maybe a 6.

Maybe next year........
Happy January ya'll

The Count Down is on. Are You Ready?

Just a few photos from a few vignettes in my home.

These vintage angels were my grandmothers. They are my most cherished holiday decorations I own.

Merry Christmas

Winter Wonderland

I hope everyone is having an enjoyable holiday season thus far. Mine has been full with shopping, parties, wrapping and relatives in town. Here are a few photos from some of my decorating.

I am really loving all things white, silver and blingy and mercury glass.....the more the merrier is what I say. I still have lots to do but most of the decorating is complete. I still have my front porch to finish. I better get a move on. Just so busy it seems. I hope this weekend I have time to curl up and watch my favorite classic holiday movie of all time - "The Bishops Wife" with Carey Grant.

Have a blessed week....

White Pumpkin Love

I am really loving white pumpkins this fall. I definitely can see them on my dining room table this Thanksgiving with my Brown Transferware Johnson Bros. Turkey Plates.

White Roses & Ironstone

Who doesn't just love the look of white roses and white pottery?
they are so fresh and calming.

Thanksgiving is just around the corner. Does everyone have thier menus planned and turkeys thawed?

The Chair Stands Alone....

For the past 13 years the office of my "day job" sat above an olde time county jail. It served as a storage area for county surplus, as well as a setting for several movies and TV shows after its closure. Now my office has been moved to a state-of-the-art building away from the scenic town it has been in (sniff, frown) The county held a large surplus sale to get rid of old items that are no longer used. Here is the little chair I bought for $1.00. Less then the cost of a Diet Pepsi! I do plan on cleaning up the layers of dust and painting it eventually

.

If only this chair could talk, the stories it would tell........

Have a stupendous week.

Finally, another post.....

I have been such a bad bad blogger. It is still a new habit that I need to develop. I need to post more often. I went out of town to the Grand Canyon with my mom and sisters and have been busy with moving to a new office for my "day job". I have however, been thinking about you all in blog land. I ran into a friend today while out starting the 1st of my holiday shopping and she shared with me she had a blog, so I told her I had one too. Now the pressure.. I better get this updated before she sees my outdated blog and does not want to become a "follower".

I know everyone has shifted into full time Christmas decor mode but I am still loving Autumn and the beauty it brings. I am on hold with my decorating because I have hardwood floors being installed in my great room this Monday and then carpets shampooed next Friday before my company arrives from Denver for Thanksgiving. So here are a few posts from my recent world until I get some holiday decor up and photographed. I am dying to put out my mercury glass and greenery and try some new ideas.
