Slipcover Sensation

I finally got around to taking the photos I promised about my 1st "genuine" slipcover.

I had it made in a neutral heavy cotton/poly material that is kid friendly. It is piped in a houndstooth check.

I love the detail down the back of the slipcover

I think it will be a really versatile chair that will fit in almost any room of my house

I need to paint the curvy legs still

I have a birthday coming up - I am hoping for a new camera so my pics will be alot better...fingers crossed

Turning the Tables...

I found this octagon shaped table at a secondhand store recently. At first I couldn't tell if I loved it or not. I went back to the thrift store 3 times to look at it and ponder its potential.

It had been marked down to $30.00. I decided I would take it home and redo it.

A few days later I bought the new issue of Better Homes & Gardens 100 Ideas Flea Market Style Magazine. And there, on the front cover was a table very similar to mine.

a _

That was all the validation I needed - I knew I had a keeper!....

I painted it an Heirloom White and antiqued it.

It is now our new dining room table. It looks fresh and changes the rooms entire feel. I had the same farmhouse table in there (that I still love) for years and years but I was ready for a change.

Our 1st gourmet dinner at our new table!

Have a Great Day!

Another Day, another chair

I found this Beauty a while back for $5.00. I love the tufted back, but not the gold velvet so much. I plan on painting it white and redoing the fabric......stay posted for a big reveal. Except the alternator went out in my car so I may have to post the "after" in a few weeks - I have to feed my kids ya know......priorities I think they call 'em.

Oh- I picked up the chair from my previous post, I will take photos as soon as I get it out of the back of my van..lets hope I don't get rear ended today (knock on wood, chippy, painted wood of course)

My First Real Slipcover

I purchased this blue plaid chair several months ago at our local thrift store. I paid $7.00 for it . I had seen it several times before in the store and there were two of them. I decided that after one of them sold I had better rescue the other one. I loved the shape and the lines and just knew it would be a great in any room. I scrimped and saved to have a slipcover made. I pick it up tomorrow afternoon and can't wait to see how it turned out. I hope I can sleep tonight. I will post the finished product soon.

And now we begin....

Well. I finally took the leap. My very 1st blog and blog post. Who will read it? Friends, family, you? Hopefully someone out there will. please oh please oh please.

I know, I am a late comer to this blogging world. I didn't really know what a blog was until about a year ago. (I know, that's crazy). I am computer literate, and do everything online so I'm not sure where I was for so long. I am passionate about decorating my home, and always have been. I am addicted to decor magazines and books and when I discovered all of your decorating blogs I couldn't believe there were actually people out there like me. Since I have discovered all of you diehards out there I have been thrifting and re-doing like mad and taking photos for my "blog".

I bought this painting at my local thrift store a few weeks back for $10.00. Even has the Ethan Allen sticker still on the back. Brought it home and hung it up. I plan on wiping the dust off the frame any day now.....
